you need to put the remote into communication mode its not like a Pronto and I assume the Home Theater remote. You hold down the button on the very bottom of the remote and go into the service menu of the remote. From there hit the right arrow on the LCD till you see computer click that and then send the communication to or from the remote. I don't have a remote in front of me so I'm trying to go from memory which is not a 100% at the moment.
