Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I can't even find anywhere on the DCT6200's main menu where you can designate a VCR brand. Basically, the only thing I can do in that menu is change the HD screen ratio. The internal menus in the EPG don't have any settings for VCR's either.

I guess I'll have to call Charter and find out what the status of the IR port is, although I hate to have to call them again. Their tech support is overseas, and half the time they don't know what they're talking about, let alone what I'm talking about. I saw the IR feature, and thought I'd save a few bucks by not having a second DVR. I'm a silly rabbit.
