May I back you up one step and ask why you want to turn off the power? I have an R15, which must be an early one because there's actually an R10 label under the front flip-down panel. I never turn it off. I think that would be a pain. And if you turn it off but it wakes up to record a show, does it turn itself off again? If not, you would then be out of sync...which is why you want discrete codes.

I vote for leaving it on.
