If you use the "text select" tool in Acrobat Reader, you
can copy and paste from .pdf's. I'm using AR version
8, and I know you can do it in version 7 as well.

I carry .pdf's of all my RS232 codes on my laptop for
just that reason. They open quicker than .doc's or .xls's
