John,
I assure you that the reason we want the remote
control that created the problem is so that we
can resolve the learning issue. I apologize for
our technical support people if that was not clear
in their responses. Sometimes, since engineering
fixes can take time, our technical support staff
may feel "powerless" to promise fixes. In this
case, I can assure you that we will follow up
and solve the issue. If anyone has had a similar
experience with another remote, I would like them
to call or email me to discuss.
Best Regards,
-Eric

Hi Eric,
I'd love to send you my Sony STR-DE845's RM-LP204 remote cause I cant get my MX-850 (or my old MX-500) to Learn any of the Discrete Audio Feild Codes except for BassBoost. Also only some of the preprogrammed codes Work for it. I've even tried importing codes from a pronto CCF file but to no avail! (the pronto learnt them fine)
I also have a FTA Dual Digital-Tuner PVR (Topfield 5000pvrT) which the MX-850 learns just fine except that it wont learn auto-repeat codes? My old MX-500 learnt these just fine by holding down the buttons rather than a single press.
I also noticed that someone in this thread has an IR Airboard for a HTPC too. My MX-500 learnt these codes perfectly but the MX-850 only accepts some of the commands. I even tried learning them from the MX-500 but no luck.
Im in Melbourne, Australia but I'd be more than happy to send in my Sony & Topfield remotes for analysis by URC.
Btw, apart from those issues, the MX-850 + MRF-250 are truly outstanding - I couldn't live without them now!
