Did they tell you that they would convert the file? If so, that's great, but it still won't solve the actual problem at hand, but just put a band-aid on it for you. The next time you go to learn another device, you may end up facing the same issue. I'm just thinking ahead for you.

Would it be worth sending the remote to them after they send you a functional file? At least then you won't be without control of your Velodine. :) Something to consider.
