Thanks for all the suggestions, but they don't work. It's not the Tivo remote - it's the remote for the Sony SVP-2000 that a lot of people have programmed into their MX-500. I also can't seem to program my Pioneer receiver or anything else. Aux 155 didn't work, new batteries didn't work...

I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, the question is what? There are so many, many ways to be stupid...
