You can try checking the hard drive in your computer
to see if something is wrong with it. But, if
it is within the 1 year warranty they will replace
it. You'd have to contact D*, even if you bought
it at a different dealer. If it isn't the hard
drive, this is definitely the route to go.

Some people have had success recovering a dying
drive with a certain utility program that maps
out bad sectors, but that is really just a patch.
It can't actually fix a drive. I can't remember
the name, but there are threads on it at the Community.

Hmm... This concerns me. I am having direct TV replace my Dish system tomorrow with the HD and the HR10-250. I signed up for the $7.99 a month charge for the lifetime warranty. I specifically asked and was told that if any piece of equipment faild that they would come out and repair or replace that equipment at NO Charge to me.

I guess I better read the fine print!

They also told me that if I didn't sign up for the monthly warranty/service contract that I would have absolutley no warranty. Even if it died after the first 90 days of service I would have to pay for repairs/replacement.

This all came right from the "Horses Mouth" Direct TV.

Buyer be ware?!
