I posted this question in the RTI section, but I thought I would also mention it here as I think it may be a cable box question.

I am using an RTI touchpad with the IR signal routed using small IR relays (I am new to this so I am not sure what their exact name is) to a hidden Scientific Atlanta 8300HD digital cable DVR unit. My issue is that the consistency of the signal is terrible. My preset channels on the touchpad will not work properly as one or two of the digits will not be transferred to the cable box. I also have problems when manually entering channel numbers, as well as choppiness when scrolling through the guide. I have tried different placements for the IR transmitter. The remote however works very well if it has a direct line of sight to the cable box itself (bypassing the IR relays). Any recommendations for this particular combination?

I forgot to mention that the remote works flawlessly turning on the t.v. and controlling the VCR/DVD.
