Mike, a double-male-ended cord is what exposes live blades. The whole purpose of these inlets is that there is no possibility of live blades. Remember, we're sending power into the wall here.

From the 2002 NEC:
406.6 Attachment Plugs
(B) Attachment plugs shall be installed so that their prongs, blades, or pins are not energized unless inserted into an energized receptacle. No receptacle shall be installed so as to require an energized attachment plug as its source of supply.

In other words, your suggestion is both dangerous and illegal. A standard extension cord may be used between a power source and these inlets.
