The Pronto transmits an IR signal.

The X10 lamp modules need a controller to send the X10 signal through the electrical signals in your house.

A controller is a device that accepts some type of command and sends an X10 signal through the wiring. There are three basic types of controllers; a plug in with buttons you push to control devices, an RF transceiver that plugs into the wall that you use an RF remote control to send signals to , and an IR transceiver that plugs into the wall to receive signals like those from your Pronto ( also has buttons for manual control)

Did you get a plug-in transceiver with the remote? (it plugs into an outlet and has an antenna on it) This transceiver receives RF signals from the 16 way remote. It then sends an X10 signal through the house wiring.

If so, you can begin X10 'ing now, just follow the directions and read over this forum for help.

For pronto control of your X10, you will need the available Ir transceiver. Your remote should have codes to be programmable to send either RF or Ir signals to either controller.

You can teach your Pronto the codes, or use CCF's from the files section of this site.
