ok I bought a new house in june. Now I am ready to start my home automation. Gonna start small and work up from there.

I was thinking of using Hal2000 for software. I know someone that has the hal deluxe and loves it. anyhow... why my garage doors first? well here is my quick story..

i have already had the cops in my house cuz of the garage door opening up on its own. Yeah if you key up a mic sometimes garage doors will open. you can use the lock feature on the garage door but then you cannot open the door with the remotes!!!!

so my question is what is the best way to do this? I would like to get one of those x-10 remotes like the car key remotes... 6 buttons... other than needing that what else do I need? my garage door openers each have their own outlet in the ceiling... so just buy 2 x-10 outlets? the remote and software and that is it?
I want the garage door outlet to shut off after I close the doors until i push the button when I get home.

thanks for all the help
