I just went around the house trying out my new meter using my MX-700 to send on/off signals. All readings were between 2.5-5.0 until I moved into the kitchen. When plugged into an outlet in the kitchen I started getting readings of .5 (two bars). I turned off the breaker for the kitchen/dining/bathroom lighting and my reading went up to 2.5-5.0.

Now, with the breaker back on, if I turn off the dining/kitchen lights at the switch my reading goes back up to 2.5-5.0. I have Lightolier Astral switches installed and would like to install some X-10 switches but not until I solve this problem.

I’m assuming I need an in-line filter. The only thing I’ve seen is the XPF on [Link: homeautomationnet.com].

If I use this filter will it allow me to use X10 switches on that circuit? Am I on the right track as far as my testing method?
