That is not the same as "local control".
Technically you are just unplugging it and plugging it back in when you flip the switch. I'm not sure they make a module that will work based on that.
I live in an apartment and put a WS12A in, took all of 5 minutes and allows me control by IR543 and my RF transceiver.
Another possible solution would be to just ignore that switch, keep the lamp module that you have and get a TM751 Transceiver and a SS13A Wireless Switch. Then you'd have three unit codes available and dimming at the switch, not to mention you could get more SS13As and put them elsewhere in the room for a wireless three way circuit.
