Homeseer or any of the softwares that support a web interface should do the trick... you might have to work at it a bit to get it setup for your screen, but it should do it. I haven't made the jump to Homeseer (or equivalent) but there is a ton of capabilities that you will be able to tap into.
After it is setup, you'll just use a bookmark on your browser. If you are slightly more adventurous, you can use your permanent internet connection to gain access from anywhere and depending on the exact modules that you use throughout your home - you could check to see if the front porch light is on - or even cooler you could change the thermostat. Water sprinklers, garage doors, the sky is the limit... keep in mind that you'll need an available 802.11 network nearby that you can get internet access to pull this all off (of course it'll work in the home as internet does now for your PDA)
