Hi,
In fact the 4040 is an emitter. Usually emitter is the box that sends orders, and receiver is the box that execute the commands.
ie, the 4040 send orders to the Lamp module (receiver) via X10. But the 4040 receives orders from the pronto... So it is X10 emitters & X10 receivers.
Emitters can be mecanical (buttons), RF, or IR, Computer interfaces, Stand alone interfaces that runs embedded programs (JDS).
Cheers.
