I am currently looking into buying a JVC SVHS VCR. After reading a lot of reviews and comments, I have decided to buy the 7600U. It has some good features that the 4600U does not have that will help give you a better picture. These features are also suppose to help clean up the picture on older VHS and rental VHS tapes:
*DigiPure Technology with 2MB Frame Memory *Digital Wide TBC (Time Base Corrector) *3-dimensional Digital Circuit with Frame Memory *Precision 3-D Color Circuit *Digital 3-D YNR/CNR *Precise Digital 3-D Y/C Separation *Digital 3R Picture System
The 9600U is a great unit, but I don't think that I would get that much use out of the added features to make up for the $140+ price difference.
The cheapest place I have found for the 7600U is at wholesaleconnection.com. They have/had the 7600U for $349. The 9600U is at $489. I don't know about shipping to Canada though.
You may also want to see if you can find a place to purchase it that offers an extended warranty. The talk is that the JVC is the best SVHS VCR for the price, but have somewhat questionable reliability.
