Yes, there are limitaions but 25' should not be any problem. The larger the guage wire the better. Quality cables with good shielding for your phono type and preferrably gold ends to reduce long term corrosion and reduced loss. Even cheap cables can go a long way without a noticable loss (even though it could be measured). I have gone 30' with cheap 18Ga lamp cord for speakers without much loss. But then again I was only running 50 watts.
