If your TV as a video output, and your receiver has a TV video INPUT, thengo ahead and connect them. Normally only the audio is used, so that stereo and ocassional dolby prologic sound that is broadcast can be decoded by your receiver and sent to your speakers. Routing the TV's video into the receiver is mainly for those using a receiver as a router for distributing Audio and video throughout the house. The TV (air or cable) simply becomes one of several sources (like VCR, DSS, DVD) that can be routed to anywher in the house or any recording device. Since VCRs also have a tuner built in, this seems kind of redundant to me.
