To decode Dolby Digital and DTS you need a digital audio cable between your DVD player and your receiver. Digital cables come in two varieties: optical and coax (with RCA connectors). Your existing analog RCA cables will carry the Dolby ProLogic signal, so you still need to keep them hooked up.
