When you say DVD in do you mean composite or component input?
The cable I added is a component video cable. I have one from the DVD player to the receiver and another from the receiver to the TV for a total of two component video cables.
The last question in the my above post had to do with the monitor out connection on the receiver. I'm assuming I need that connected to my TV so I can use the VCR since the VCR doesn't have component video connections.
