Hmmm..maybe it's just the way your receiver powers up. If everything is fine after 10 seconds, I wouldn't really worry about it.

And as Larry stated above, your receiver will not 'transcode' or change video formats. IE putting in a composite video signal will not 'be changed' into component. As I hear, there are actually some receivers that do do this, I've never used one.

When you say DVD in do you mean composite or component input. ALso, you will have to switch your TV's input along with your receiver when you change sources from a composite to component video format.
