I chose the 3802 because it allowed 2 channels to be split off for another room, in my case the patio, with a different source.
Another consideration. Are you planning to use the receiver for component video switching? If so the Denon, at least the 3802, doesn't have the bandwidth for a HD signal. The Onkyos do. I have enough inputs on my TV so it wasn't an issue for me.
I'm quite happy with my 3802.
