I heartily recommend ANY working RF system when a plasma is involved. I have seen posts here where people have found this or that plasma-proof IR sensor...and have bought one, only to have it work for a couple of months!
And others are recommended. If you avoid the IR sensor, and use RF, then the plasma cannot interfere.
The only drawback I have ever seen with RF, and it seems to happen across the board, is that the user has to hold each button down a teeny bit longer than when using IR. Usually, just telling the client this once is enough, or I tell them, then remind them when they call me out and I find they are tapping or punching the buttons quickly instead of pushing them. Learning a simple reliable way to push a button is a small price to pay for not having IR interference problems!
