Sorry, but I TOTALLY missed the reference you made, in the text above, to the laptop you use to control your system. I remember old-fashioned wired remotes; they do not operate current CD Changers as those have IR remotes. What the heck models do you have. Also, how are wired remotes PCs?

I don't have cable by choice I just
watch my video collection, run the power a few
minutes then shut all power down and off.

How the heck do you watch a whole movie if you "run the power a few minutes then shut all power down and off?
