If the store also sells audio/video equipment, simply make the saleman prove to you that remotes work thru the glass by demonstrating so at the store. From my experience, even smoke or gray glass has a hard time stopping Infra Red signals. Convince yourself, though. Make the salesman earn his/her comission.
