I have just gotten my Panasonic 50 PV500. I tried the colour buttons without the TV/AV as a lead-in button.
It actually works - one can select the input directly with these buttons- the TV does not even switch in TV mode.
As far as I remmeber - this does not work with the 42 model.
May be there are some descrete codes after all?
