The tech was only half right. The 15-1994 does support DVD players even though, for some stupid reason, they are listed as LD players in the manual. I did not see the Hitachi listed as being supported, but that does not mean it is not. You might want to check if anyone knows if there is a code for this DVD player for the Cinema7 learning remote. The the code will be the same for the 15-1994 clone.

As for going to the 15-1918 model. It is true that this one is upgradeable over the telephone, which is really cool. There is an 800 number that you can call and you hold the remote to the telephone handset while they send the code you requested to the remote. The newer models do not have this feature. I would use this option only if you cannot find support for your DVD player on the Cinema7/15-1994 remotes. And remember, Radio Shack has a 30 day return policy so why not buy the remote and check it out? Keep everything in returnable condition and if you cannot get the remote to work with your DVD player in 30 days, take it back.
