Understood. Your next best option then is to buy a JP1 compatible learning remote and JP1 cable. You could use this combo to capture and decode the signals from the Insignia remote. I could then use this info to do the comparison thing.
I can sell you a URC-8910 remote for $20, plus a JP1 cable for $15. Domestic postage is $4 giving you a grand total of $39, plus at the end of the day, you'll have a totally customizable, PC programmable, remote that you can use to work your HT system.
