Should be the same part, Prontos are identical hardware wise except for the RF components. This is not a problem on the 1000/2000.
Repair is simple enough if you're handy with a soldering iron, although getting the case open, and then repacking the cable, circuit board and screen can be time consuming the first time you try it.
