THIS THREAD IS INTENDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT POST QUESTIONS HERE

THESE PROCEDURES APPLY TO THE SONY RM-AV3000/3100 REMOTES

1. Since so many people have problems with the System Control keys (mostly because the manual is so poorly written, AND the procedures given on page 35 are WRONG), I am listing these procedures, which should cover everything you will need to know about programming the System Control 1,2 and 3 keys.

2. The System Control key 2 does not have the problems of the System Control 1/3 keys because there is no factory preprogramming on the System Control 2 key.

3. If you are not going to use the factory preprogrammed commands, you should delete them IMMEDIATELY, so that you will not have problems with them later on.

4. Cb1 put this in another thread after the writer had problems with his macro, even after he performed the individual procedures, so I am adding it to this thread. This is a foolproof way of clearing the system control keys, and I highly recommend you follow this procedure BEFORE you attempt to do any programming, either memory or macro, on the System Control 1 or 3 keys. The procedures listed after these instructions are still valid for individual operations, but this procedure should absolutely be performed first.

DO THIS BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO LOAD ANY MACROS TO THE SYSTEM KEYS

RESET THE MACRO. THEN DO THE DELETE. TWO DIFFERENT THINGS! THIS PROCEDURE DOES BOTH, AND ALSO APPLIES TO THE SYSTEM CONTROL 3 BUTTON:

Com/off muting
set
reset
system
system 1 hard button
yes
com off twice
system
press and hold DEL at top of touchscreen, press sys 1 hard button until it beeps.
com off
system
hard button sys 1 button
should not do anything
now program new macro.
then exit out of programming and check function.

5. Individual procedures for the System Control 1 or 3 keys:

TO CLEAR THE PREPROGRAMMED SIGNALS AND ANY LEARNED SIGNALS ON SYSTEM CONTROL 1 OR 3 BUTTONS:
See paragraph 4 above

TO DELETE THE LEARNED COMMAND:
Commander off/system key
Will beep twice, then DEL will appear
Press DEL/system key
Long beep-cleared

IF YOU WANT TO RETURN THE REMOTE TO THE FACTORY PREPROGRAMMING ON SYSTEM 1 OR 3 KEYS WHEN THERE IS NO MACRO OR LEARNED COMMAND ON THE SYSTEM 1 OR 3 KEY: Commander off/System key
Press Commander off once again
Press and hold DEL/press system key
Long beep-it is reset

TO TEACH A COMMAND TO THE SYSTEM CONTROL KEY:
(Note: If you have loaded a macro, and may want to use it later, you can still program a learned command to the System Control key. The learned command will override the macro, but if you decide to delete the learned command at a later date, the macro will still be there)
Commander off/muting
Learn
System key
Send command from original remote

TO TEACH A MACRO TO THE SYSTEM KEYS:
Commander off/muting
System
System key
Teach macro (Remember, the macro will always end on the last device key you pressed)

TO DELETE A MACRO YOU HAVE LOADED ON THE SYSTEM CONTROL KEYS:
Commander off/system control key
DEL/System key
Beep-deleted
