Trying to simplify our primary HT system for family to use.
System configuration:
Sony Bravia XBR 40" (on order to replace Toshibar 34" CRT) Sony STR-DA7100ES receiver OppoDigital OPDV971H dvd player (may be replaced with Sony DVP-NS9100ES) SlimDevices Squeezebox music server
Currently, no cable box and no plans for one (would use a CableCard). I may add a Sony DVR in the future.
My wife does not like the RM-AAE003 remote from the receiver, finds it too complicated. It can learn most of the OppoDigital functions but does not have a number keypad to jump to desired scene or song (when playing music).
Want to program macros so with one button, powers up the components and places the input on the correct devices (for example the receiver switches from TV-SAT to dvd and the TV switches to the correct input).
The receiver and dvd player may be moving inside a cabinet. Would CONTROL S let me control the receiver and Oppo (if the receiver learned its codes)? Another benefit to upgrading the Oppo to the SonyES dvd player.
