If you have learned the volume commands, relearn and hold the key on the original remote down until the 3100 beeps. This is the most common cause of repeating keys, like volume and channel change, not working properly.

When commands are learned properly, the 3100 should work exactly as the original remote did.

In rare cases, it could be that the IR codes from the original remote have caused this problem, but it is not too likely.
