It seems as if Sony leaves that capability off of the
lower end models of the receiver line, for some odd reason.
I just installed a new STR-DG920. Sadly, it appears just different enough from the DA2400 to not include the ability to switch controller modes. Pages 35-36 in the DG920 manual are similar to what is shown for the DA2400, minus the ability to switch modes.
I guess it is time to use the learning feature of my Sony VL900, but it will be a shame not to be able to use the TiVo Peanut remote too.
