Of course. In addition to being able to do what you describe, you can also bypass the source switching command/macro (if you were to program one) buy pressing one of the bottom hard buttons while pressing "VCR". This technique saves a button on the VCR page for other use and still gives you the convenient source switch.

That being said, I don't use source switching commands on the device key. Instead I have a list of macros to do that which end up on the appropriate control screen. This way I don't have to explain to my wife and the babysitter: "Now to switch to this while doing that, hold this first and then press that...."
