I can attest to the ability to directly enter Philips/Marantz RC type codes in the software on screen. There is also a "library" lookup of all or most of same in the software to make entry easy. The code is not what I would call "hex" as such but more likely just a proprietary numbering scheme, which is why I wouldn't suspect that other code storage and entry is quite as easily done. There also could potentially be licensing issues if were to be within a software system.
