Figured I would update this thread.
Unfortunately, the HDM-AIO2 did not work in this application. Every time it cycled, the tv would see the reconnected input as a novel source and bring up the two step "unknown source" followed by it syncing, followed by the "would you like to set up your Samsung remote to control this device" prompt. This was with every "smart" feature I could think of disabled on the display.
Wound up going back to bypassing the AVR, routing all video to the Frame media box and backing the audio out of the media box to the AVR. Works flawlessly save for the loss of the OSD from the AVR.
I guess that is just how we are going to have to do these from here on out to make the "smart" tvs stop trying to help and just play video.
