Not entirely a fair comparison. Automotive deaths are the reason we now have Federally mandated Seat belts, Airbags, Backup cameras, soft surface interiors, Side impact bars etc, all designed to reduce traffic related deaths.
Not to mention, automotive deaths can be prevented by careful driving.
Cancer kills millions of people each year as well. The difference is, I can't catch cancer by standing to close to a cancer patient at the grocery store.
AIDS killed millions of people in the 80's and 90's. The difference is, you could keep from getting AIDS by wearing a condom (IE. penis mask).
Okay, so what else do we have that kills lots of people. Smoking, cure: stop smoking. Heart disease, cure: lead a healthier lifestyle and hope genetics don't getcha'.
