Believe it or not, I found both links above before your post and even signed up on the satelliteguys.us website so I know you put some work into this and just want to say thanks for helping out.

I did try below the power button but there was no response. I'm pretty sure the sensor is just to the right of the last button on the front panel. That said, I'm going to proceed and open the unit to verify exactly where and eliminate, hopefully, all guess work. Black electrical tape over the emitter is a new one on me. I'll bet its a great fix but my concern would be appearance, but, if all else fails, functionality wins out over appearance, right?
