If the philips remote doesn't emit IR, what did you use to learn the commands that do work on the urc7935? Philips brand of devices usually give learning remotes fits because their use of toggle bits, each time you press a particular key it changes 0 to 1, a learning remote can only learn either the 0 or the 1, not both. So you can't press the same key twice in a row.
What's wrong with using the preset codes? As you find out it works via the cec mode when you press the tv input key. Its great feature, say you were to program an Apple tv to the streamer remote, the cursor pad would work with the apple tv, but if you .press the tv input key the cursor now controls the tv. Once the tv input menu is gone its back to controlling the apple tv.
