I used to use the numerical entry for direct access to a specific disk. Say you want to play the CD/DVD in slot 132. You can hit 1-3-2 and then enter. The disk will play. This may be what Lowpro means by 'Title search' but not sure.
The "Title Search" option is just that. It allows you to enter the "Title" you'd like to play. A given disc will consist of one or more "Titles". When watching a TV series on Blu-ray for instance, each episode is its own "Title" usually, each "Title" then being broken down into "Chapters". So yeah, it's pretty lame that numerical entry is only used for "Title" selection with Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players.
Back to direct disc selection. Just to clarify. Yes, Sony's 400-disc DVD Players provide for direct disc selection by entering the slot number from the user interface. That same option is not available with Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players though. Direct disc selection with Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players is only possible when using RS-232 or IP control.
