Sorry I'm late to the party. Had same problem this morning. My solution was to use a USB Y-Cable - had no problem.
If an external USB Hard Drive or other device requires more power than a single USB port can supply, the Y-Cable allows voltage and current to be drawn concurrently from 2 USB ports which, in combination, can generate enough power to run that device without employing an AC Adapter.
