I have rejected IR because a floor/ceiling separates the control and device location -
unless the IR transmitter output can be "pointed" through a 1" hole in the floor.
I just want to discuss my project with savvy hobbyists and experienced DIYers.
You can do IR with a 1/4" hole in the floor. Pull a Cat5e through that hole and use it to extend an IR emitter or IR receiver.
