I could get lucky and CEC will bail me out, but I’m not holding my breath. There’s a receiver, Comcast box, Samsung Blu-ray player, and PS-4 in the system.

Imagine the contorted TV power macro that will first select the Blu-ray player, power up the player, (which might start the TV), then move on to other sources and hope that the abandoned Blu-ray player will not force a shutdown.

I’ve been through the contorted shutdown of this sort of mess. I like to shut down the TV first and mute the receiver. This will make the operator think that the system has immediately shut OFF, even though there are a bunch of other commands yet to be issued that may cause odd status screens to flash by on the TV if it was ON.(Mute is usually faster response than receiver power down) Unfortunately, near the end of the sequence the cable box figures out that the TV is OFF and will issue a TV power CEC command. A second TV power OFF command will shut this down.
