So....
Tech came out and found the service to the house wasn't up to snuff.
Claimed corrosion on all the terminations outside the home were the problem so he installed all new fittings, new splitter, and a signal booster, the replaced all the boxes.
All I had to do was put the IR emitter back on, and test the remote.
Free at last, I am free at last (until something else goes wrong). LOL
