This topic reminds me of one of the first times I went to CES. This was one of the years where there was a humongous tent (or were three two?) all filled with video games.
At someone's booth they had a demo about 6" square of a new kind of technology they were going to call "plasma." There was a note by the thing to tell us that if this unit had been put into production, the price would have been around $100,000 or so. For a six inch square.
I'm sure I've got the numbers wrong, but the scale of the size and the price are as ludicrous as that first sample was.
