I would expect it to support the same discrete codes, but there's no guarantee...
Regarding the IR in port, if you can't get ANY commands working, make sure you're using a mono cable (or put a mono adapter on the MSC-400 side). Otherwise, you can try slightly removing the stereo cable from the projector's jack, like by 1/4" or so, if it behaves anything like Sony's fussy TV IR-In jacks.
But, best to try to remove complexity from the equation and use the codes directly on your MX-900 with line-of-sight for now, and then add in the MSC-400/RF/wired IR complications.
