Likely you are using power toggle codes, not true ON and OFF codes.

The IR database my have, ON and OFF codes for your TV. Unless the remote has explicit ON and OFF buttons, you are learning the Power toggle command.

In a couple cases I couldn’t find any power discrete commands, but I discovered that the zero button would turn ON the TV. I then used this in a couple very clumsy macros to force the desired state.
