I sometimes add some cable runs, if it's of low cost to me, and tell the client they're for the future, and don't bill them for those runs. (100 runs, no way, but four or five... yeah).

I didn't think so. Have you determined the money lost by giving away your T&M? Goodwill gestures are very similar to a band playing for the exposure, rather than being paid.
