Reviewing this thread again, I remembered a surprise I once experienced.

This was years ago, when I was in the last stages of recovering from chemo. I was setting up a desk in my garage. I had cut speaker holes in the wall above my computer monitor, but I had run out of energy after mounting a speaker in the LEFT hole, and before mounting the other speaker in the RIGHT hole. So I only had one speaker playing.

A couple of days later I had not gotten around to mounting the second speaker yet. I decided to sit and watch a movie. Yes, with sound only from the left speaker. I put the amp in mono.

About twenty minutes into the movie, I was shocked to realize that I was perceiving the voices of the people in the movie as coming from the exact center of the image. Yep, from my computer monitor.

The one speaker I was listening to was three feet above the desk and two feet to the left of the monitor. The middle of the monitor was about a foot and a half below my eye height.

But the sound was "coming to me" from the center of the image!

THAT is the kind of latitude reality has. It shows theory to sometimes be a lying punk.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
